Here is a Coquitlam internet marketing strategy for businesses that are looking to increase their sales  without spending money on advertising (or very little).  Have you  heard of the 6 degrees of separation.  “Six degrees of separation (also referred to as the “Human Web”) refers to the idea that everyone is at most six steps away from any other person on Earth, so that a chain of, “a friend of a friend” statements can be made to connect any two people in six steps or fewer.” Source

Take the principle of the six degrees and make a list of everyone you know. Now draft up a friendly letter and either email it or send it via snail mail (this works better). This letter should be asking for referrals for your business. Remind people that you have a valuable product or service that could benefit their friends and family  and you are offering a discount. Ask everyone to give you a list of everyone they contacted with the letter (you do the work of preparing the letter for them including postage if you send it through regular mail) When some contacts you ask them if they were referred and find out who referred them. Keep track and with new customers ask them for referrals as well. You can continue doing this forever.

The six degrees of separation is a very powerful way to generate new business. People know about this term but very few actually implement it properly in their businesses.
